I have decided to build my own MTB bike… Well, assemble would be the right word, I guess. I have a 09 DB Response Sport and while I like this bike, and it is a good beginners bike, I wanted to do a custom bike as well. My DB Response is an AM, the one I’m building is XC. Below is the plan.

My main purpose for this build to have a fun responsive light bike that I can enjoy riding and have fun while assembling this bike as well.

I am a big fan of HTs, so this bike is HT.
The frame (purchased) is a NEW 3K carbon fiber FUJI. It was made at the same Taiwan factory that builds Fuji C-10 carbon frames. It was made in 2007.

The frame is clearcoated, with no decals. I’m going to keep it that way. I might add some white or red accents here and there, but wanted to keep the bike "clean" and simple.

Next, I want to put on a set of Crank Brothers Cobalt rims in black.

Fork: 2010 Rock Shox Tora SL (purchased)

      Crank: RaceFace Next Carbon

Handlebars: Forte in carbon as well

Seatpost: Forte Carbon or Thomson or Richey

Seat: WTB Pure V Sport (purchased)

As far as drivetrain – I have not made the decision yet, as I need to do some research.

So, I will keep updating this post as I continue with this build. Please share your opinions with me to make a better bike.

I just found out that the frame I purchased on eBay is a new 2007 Fuji 3K carbon fiber frame made in Taiwan (with a serial #).

I also purchased a 2010 Rock Shox Tora SL SE fork (from LBS).

I have decided to take the drivetrain from my 09 DB Response Sport for now, and as the parts break, replace them with the components I really want.

Tomorrow I should have the frame swap’d bike, so I will test it to see how it feels ;)

Installed drivetrain from my other bike onto this new frame, PLUS a new 2010 Rock Shox Tora SL fork. Yay!

Now I need to get a Thomson seatpost. I will put the WTB Pure Sport saddle on it (witch I have).
