I’m tired of looking at ebay and craigslist everyday. Please keep your eyes out for a 19.5 trek 7000 built in 1994. It was the green with purple decals. This was my first true mountain bike I bought when i was in college. I remembered my old man blew a gasket when he found out how much I paid for it ($700). If he only knew how much I paid for my mountain bike sitting in my garage now 😃. Thanks for the help!

You may just be in luck… I have a 19.5" Trek 7000 but it’s a little newer than the one you’re looking for – a 1999 I think. It’s green w/ yellow lettering. The bike has been hanging in my basement for a year now and I really should get rid of it.

Thanks for the offer! But I’m looking for the original bike I had. I think I’m going through a mid-life crisis and I’m trying to regain my youth again.

The moral of the story: never EVER sell your first hardtail mountain bike!

    • #87315

Hehe, good point maddslacker. My first hardtail (Bridgestone MB-5) is still in the family at least, though at this point it’s living as a beach cruiser 😀

Modifying it is ok, just hang on to it. 😃

      Here’s how mine looks now:

I need to install a larger chainring as I can currently spin out the gears at about 25MPH.

Overall though, it makes a perfect commuter as the geometry is comfortable for long rides, I don’t have to hop every crack and curb in the pavement, and it can haul a ton of weight on the rack!

You guys are making me depressed! I know I should have never sold it! But why did I sell it? I went into the Peace Corps and I thought I was done with mountain biking. I am really kicking myself in the a$$ right now.! Let the hunt continue!

      1) Buy your house from a professional landscaper.
      2) He installed an automatic sprinkler system, as it’s actually semi-arid here.
2.a) run those for 6 minutes per zone, twice, on three days of the week
      3) 10 minutes with the Scotts fertilizer spreader 3 times a year (with weedkiller)
      4) Mow it once a week.

      That’s pretty much it.
That pic was in June and the grass stays like that until Oct or Nov usually.

      Oh, and
      5) Adjust the color saturation in your photo editing software in post 😃

Hey Jeff turn that thing into a single speed, don’t sell it!

I have the 1994 Trek 7000. It’s not a 19.5, but a 17.25. It honestly hasn’t been kept well (got rained on, etc.), but change the chain, tires, clean/grease it up, adjust the shifting/brakes a bit and it’s in decent shape as far as I can tell. Interested?

Sorry for the delay! I’ve had a virus on my computer and I finally got rid of it yesterday (after spending $100!). Unfortunately, I need the 19.5 frame since I’m a big boy. But thanks for the reply!

No problem, good luck with your search. 😀

Is that the bike I just saw on ebay about 5 minutes ago? That’s exactly what I had! So close, but yet so far!

    • #87326

Yup, sorry to disappoint you! I’m going to move soon, so I figured I should sell it before then. 😀

There is a frame only on ebay right now, green with purple decals, its Made in the USA (easton fatory), great frame! only 1 bid at 99 cents.

I just bought the exact bike you want today. Appealed to me because it is lightweight. I’ve been researching it and came across your post. 19.5" Green trek aluminum 7000. I’m surprised to find out it’s from 1994–the oversize tubing had me thinking it was newer. Complete bike. Has rusty chain but everything is there. Here’s my number 4125-9918-62173 take out the 1s. I am in Seattle and am familiar with shipping bikes. I know how it is looking for what you really want. I’ve been looking for the same model vision snowboard I have all season.–Mike

I have this exact bike and am thinking about selling it. I bought it new and it’s in pristine condition. It’s the 7000 ZX Series (Green/Purple) Easton Frame. Are you still looking? If so, I’ll post up some pictures :-)

    • #87330

Hehe, I would be very surprised if he were unable to find a bike to suit him in two years 😀

(I also have this same bike, still ride it and love it)

I bought this same bike for my son but it is the ZX model in purple with green lettering. Smooth and light. headtube angle was a bit steep but he loves it. He got it stolen at UC Riverside last Christmas while he came home and thanks to me insisting on having it registered by the local police, he got it back 6 months later. Thief was charged, problem is the thief messed with the paint which of course would cost 5x what I paid for the bike($100 I know sweet) He loves and wants to keep it forever, sort of connected with it I guess. Anyone know if repop decals are to be had, or am I going to have to have them reproduced!!!
