Hi I just bought a cheap walmart bike for winter road riding because i didnt want a $9000 downhill bike to rust from the salt on the road. So anyway I want to know can i replace the cheap stock stem adapter which is welded on to the stem with a normal 1 1/8 stem adapter without having to get another fork or headset.
Thank You

Hi
First and foremost welcome to Singletracks.
Your bike has a Quill type stem and threaded fork/headest. If you want to use a threadless stem you have laying around you will need one of these:

Does it have a 1" steer (22.2mm quill) or a 1 1/8th steer (25.4mm quill)?
Hope this helps
