If you are going to head out and ride the Bull Mountain trail system in Dahlonega, Georgia and need someone to roll with, hit me up with a PM and if I’m free i’ll definitely be up for a ride!

Just relocated to the area, and I can be at the trails in under 15 min )it’s pretty sweet 😃 ) I definitely enjoy the bigger hills up in these parts as compared to the meager hillocks of Athens.

Whoa Goo, what are you doing up in Dahlonega? I’ll bet there’s still snow and ice on the trails this week but I should definitely be up for a ride once things warm up a bit. Lucky guy!

Just got married the beginning of the year! The new wife’s job is north of Dahlonega, and I’m still doing school and such stuff in the area now. Just went for my first ride of the year yesterday at http://www.singletracks.com/bike-trails … trail.html Montgomery Creek and it was still snow almost the whole way. But it felt so good to be out!

Dude, you are just a short drive away from the best MTB’ing in GA. Ellijay brother! 😄

That place kick s ass and the DH is the topping on the cake brother! Not sure if you have rode the Pinhoti Trail yet up in your new area, but that is real sweet as well. I like the trails up around Dalton, but have not been there in a couple of years. I was supposed to head that way last year to visit family, but things did work out for them, so I never made it up that way. Soon though. Anyways, nice move bro! BTW, the best wishes to you and all yours, but especially to you and your new bride.

Keep it real, have fun, and ride on bro! 😃

Yeah man i’ve ridden one trail in ellijay, but no pinhoti or carter’s lake yet, but looking forward to hitting that stuff up!

      And thanks man!

I actually ended up there earlier today on accident, the trails were way to muddy to ride. If they dry out I might try to come up in the next week or two.

That sucks, sounds like you had a hard time finding good trails today despite the awesome weather. Ah well, tomorrow’s night ride should make up for it 😀

yeh, i wasn’t about to ride singletrack yesterday, but i did do the whole winding stair ride, and that little bit of sogginess in the forest roads just saps your energy!! i was toast at the end of it.

Thinking about head up there this weekend on Sunday, what are the trails like right now?

    • #86239

unfortunately, i can’t ride sunday. but we haven’t had that much rain this past week, which is a good thing. i rode on monday, and some of the trails were fine, others were wet. if i could, i’d be riding them this weekend. I think they’d be dry enough.

In general, Jake mountain to bull mountain connector is the wettest trail, no tell, turner creek, and jones creek ridge all dry out the fastest. Everything else falls somewhere in between. (some parts of bull mountain never are completely dry due to all the streams)

Hope you didn’t try to ride on Sunday. I was out of town, but apparently it snowed all the way down to Dahlonega, so I’m pretty sure everything is soaked right now. Thinking about hitting up a FS road ride later today, and I’ll see how it is.

The weather is looking good and the schedule is looking better, up for riding some N. GA single-track tomorrow or this weekend?

Yes, I’m totally down! My wife’s going to be backpacking, so I’m free all weekend. I was planning on hitting Bear Creek in Ellijay Saturday, and possibly riding Bull area Sunday, but I’m flexible.

Only thing is, I’m currently recovering from some sort of mid-upper back strain, so I don’t want to push myself over the edge. Probably will only be riding at most a couple-three hours each day.
