Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum. I recently broke my frame and picked up a used 2014 reign sx. I’m wanting to change the rear coil to an air. Preferably one with lockout. This is cause I have a fair bit of climbing to do(with a bum knee) and the 9 speed just isn’t cutting it. Too much bobbing. Anyways, have any of you upgraded at all? If so, what rear air shock with actually fit the bike with close to the same travel? I have been suggested the float x ctd…
FYI, I dont drop over 10ft let alone 5.
Thanks for all your replies,
J

Hmmmm… when you asked your parents how to spell something did they say to you “look it up”? Contact Giant directly and get the exact specs for the shock eye to eye length and stroke. You probably can find this info online though or go hassle a mechanic at a bike shop to measure it for you if you are not able to do so (it’s actually pretty simple even if you aren’t so mechanically inclined). Putting an air shock of same measurements will not change the travel at all. The bike will be become slightly more progressive and if you get something like a Monarch plus (which the other ’14 model Reigns were spec’d with) you’ll have your lock out.
