We need your help! Singletracks relies on members’ photo and video ratings to pick trail thumbnails, PODs, and content to feature on the blog.
So, we’re giving away 3 Pro memberships each month ($24.99 value) to the members who rate the most photos and videos on the site. Find photos and view the rating leaderboard here (right side of page).
Rating photos and videos is easy. When coming up with a rating, keep these suggested guidelines in mind:
[*:3v2iyj75]Reserve 5-star ratings for only the best photos. Usually, this means that the photo has a rider in it, is in good focus, and bears other photographic elements, such as composition and lighting, in mind.[/*:m:3v2iyj75]
[*:3v2iyj75]Be honest with other ratings. If it’s four stars, give it four. If it’s three, give it three.[/*:m:3v2iyj75]
[*:3v2iyj75]If the photo is very representative of the trail, give it a decent rating.[/*:m:3v2iyj75]
[*:3v2iyj75]Don’t abuse the system by ranking only your own photos highly or ranking others’ photos poorly.[/*:m:3v2iyj75]
[*:3v2iyj75]Reserve 2 and 1 star ratings for photos that truly suck: photos that are off topic, out of focus, or that just plain don’t look good.[/*:m:3v2iyj75][/list:u:3v2iyj75]
You win! Actually, we had been watching it toward the end of the month and it was looking like me, Greg, and mudhunny were going to take the top 3 slots 😢 . Thanks for stepping up!
Yesterday we unveiled a new look for the trail pages on Singletracks which make heavy use of the top rated photo for each trail so photo ratings are more important than ever. Start rating photos now for an easy way to earn a free membership!
Personally, I like having some photos of the trail I am inquiring about or thinking about riding.
TBH, for the most part, thats what I look for – and – what I try and take pics of – the trail head (and end, if there is one), distinctive landmarks, basically so that people can (hopefully) find them useful for navigating if they never been before, so I think more than a few of mine might be quite "boring" 😉 😆
