I snagged a pic off this site for my blog as a good example for a trail building solution. It’s the picture of the guy rolling though a hardwood tree that has been partially cut to allow passage. I gave credit to Singletracks (hope that was OK) but is there someone specific I can give credit too? The filename was hardwood.jpg.

I recommend contacting the member who posted the photo to get the OK. Just click the "Send message" link on the member’s profile page to contact them.
That photo in particular came from kolesal and was taken at Harwood’s Mill in Newport News, VA.

Glad to see you are concerned about photo credits. Was browsing this site for the first time the other day and found some of my photos and track info have been ripped straight off my website [url:cci8h1tf]http://www.onyourbike.co.nz[/url:cci8h1tf] with no credit or reference as to where they came from. Sent the poster a message, but have not heard back.
I’m happy for my stuff to be used, but some credit would be appreciated!! -

It is a shame that some people pay no attention to requests or rules at times. I guess the poster didn’t read the line right above where he has to upload the photos. "Please do not post photos copied from other web sites. If you didn’t take the photo or don’t have permission to share it, please don’t post it here. "
He’s lucky you’re are taking it lightly, I’m sure those in charge of this site would possibly take action if you chose not to. Hey ! Now that you are here, some of those trails, pics, and routes listed or linked by the actualy rider who rode them and took the pics would be great.
Just my 2 cents worth……. 😀

Let me add a bit more to this discussion. I hope people don’t think this is just about posting trail photos from other websites without proper attribution.
singletracks.com cannot and will not allow trail descriptions, reviews, videos, GPS data, or any other trail content to be posted here without express permission from the owner or original creator of that content. That means that it isn’t good enough to copy a trail description from an official park website and simply add "From parkwebsite.com." Anything you post on singletracks.com needs to be your own work or you need to contact the original creator before posting his or her content. Period.
If anyone would like to update anything they’ve posted here in the past that doesn’t meet the above criteria please send me an IM.
