Ok just put on my new shock recon silver now I have a question. Like all air shocks from sram comes with a new pump. Here’s my problem screw on fill up unscrew all the air gets released while I’m unscrewing the pump. What’s the secret to get air in this thing? Don’t tell me bad shock took a month to get shipped wrong shock first time.

Heya!
I don’t know about your particular pump, but all the pumps I’ve dealt with actually have a second threaded sleeve above the female thread that you fasten to the fork. The way it works is that you screw it shut, thread the hose onto the fork, fill with air, unscrew the collar above the part connected to fork and finally remove the hose from the fork.
That sounds confusing as hell but if you need an example I can take some pics of mine.
The ability to unscrew the threaded part above the part you attach to the fork allows you to back the detent off off the valve nipple while not allowing any air to escape. Once you’ve backed it far enough off the valve, its closed and you can remove the line from the shock without losing any pressure.

Ya that would work but the pump that came with the rockshox only has one piece to screw on. Guess I go buy better pump tomorrow. Thanks

Can you either link the pump you have(like at Amazon) or post a pic of the threaded end?

Odd, tons of reviews mention how little air loss they’re getting. Maybe you got a lemon. That or it just doesn’t like your fork.

Got it worked out. The volume I was pumping seemed to small to be filling the shock so took a closer look. There Is a rubber ring in the pump that has to be compressed to contact the valve in the shock. I had to tighten pump valve very tight to open valve then all was well it only looses a pound or two now when I unscrew it. You really need to crank it down to get it to contact the valve. Now will see how it rides got to be better than the capa rst that was on there.

You’re going to love it. I’ve got a Reba and a Recon on my two bikes, which replaced cheap coil forks on both. The difference in ride is night and day.
Enjoy your newfound bounciness!
