Hey guys,
Apologies as I posted this in the reviews section by mistake when it should really be here so I am sorry Mods 😳 ! Was wondering if you could help me. Looking to buy a new MTB, I have an idea what I want.
Aluminium frame
Good disk brakes
At least 24 gears
Roughly 20 inch frame as I’m 6’0/6’1
Hard tail front suspensionHave a budget of around $750
I live in Ireland and need to get one online as the currency rate is really favorable for me at the moment. Anyone know where I can buy one online that will deliver to Ireland? Wanted a Trek 6000 Disk BADDDLY but no dealers sell Trek bikes online.
Recommendations would be brilliant as I am going to work off your advice as you guys seem to know your stuff…
Cheers

I would seriously consider getting a full suspension. Giant makes the Yukon FX that was recently reviewed in BIKE (or Mountain BIke Action) against similarily priced hardtails and took the cake. I can’t remember the price off hand, but I think it might be just above your price range. But, you should consider going full suspension.

I think the Kona is speced the best out of them all and is also a solid brand. What is your price range in US Funds, I can give you some other ones to look at off of that.
Haro Is better at making BMX then they are at making MTB and are on there way to becoming a Wal-mart Brand
The GT frame is Bullet Proof, I am basing this off a guy on my XC team who has one has his DJ, Freerideing bike. But he has changed somethings on it.
Focus looks like a waste of money for what you are getting.
Also try top stay with the Dart line of Forks I think they are by far the best fork in that price range.

The GT bike that the website shows looks and sounds like it would be a decent bike. The only thing that I say about it is that it looks kinda on the heavy side for my taste. It looks good for the price though; if the 750 that you said as your budget is equel to the 469.99 price online.

The GT is a very heavy bike. Have you looked at the Specialized, I know they some stores in the UK and may ship out of them. I would really look at them for the money you want to spend they may have one of the best choices for you.

I would bring your list to your local bike shops and ride as many models as possible.
