Hello all,
i am am in the process of replacing my bb. However I am kind of confused as to the type of bb I even have let alone need to buy. It seems to be a press fit because I did not have unscrew anything to take it out. There were these twin pinch lock rings in a groove on either side which I removed. Then I hammered out the bb. it also has attached square tapered ends for the cranks.when I google press fit bbs, non of them seem to have attached aware tapered ends.
About my bike.

Not sure what’s actually on your specific bike, but 1996-1999 Supercaliber’s came with Shimano BB-UN72 BB’s (XT by the way), and were standard (at that time) square tapered “English” 73x113mm threaded BB’s. Those have internal bearings.
As for press fit BB’s, that’s a pretty new standard. Not something seen on 90’s bikes.
