I have been thinking of upgrading bikes and going with a FS this fall. Well, I stopped at the LBS last night and they priced me an 09 Specialized FSR 29 Comp for $1700 !!! The original sticker was $2700. I might have to jump on that and dip in the ole’ savings !!!! I was looking at just buying a FS with 26" wheels, But with this bike, I would have the best of both worlds, right?? They also had the same bike in the 26 version for $1500. Any feedback would be appreciated 😎

I’d take it for a spin and see if you like the whole 29’r thing. I prefer the quicker acceleration and faster handling of a 26" bike, but it really depends on your riding style and the types of trails you frequent. I’m not dissing on 29’s, I just don’t prefer ’em.

That’s good deal on either bike, however.

The LBS should let you demo both.

I would have to say give the bike a test ride first. See if it suits your riding style..But for the price that is a good deal.

Buy that bike before someone else does! Thats exactly how I ended up with my ’08 Stumpy 29er. Was clearly the best snap decsiion I ever made.

As you all can see from the pic, I bought the 29er’. Picked it up last week and all I can say is OMG !!!! I have had it out 3 times in the last week and I still have a smile on my face. This bike is all about momentum. I am still working on the set up, but I am getting closer. 😎

Congrats RSB. Welcome to the 29er crowd. I have the ’08 version of thesame bike. Once you "re-learn" how to ride with the bigger wheels you will be amazed at how fast you can be.

Thanks, it was a great choice. I can’t believe how it handles the gnarly stuff. You just point and shoot !! I have been able to climb a couple hills I was pushing on before.

Good choice bro. I have the ’10 model and I love it too. It sounds like a great deal to me. Having been on 26ers until I got mine as well, you learn to use it to your advantage. I agree it is a matter of preference and I prefer the 29er too.
