Hey guys, I need a little advice. I’ve got a felt Q620 with a revelation RS fork I added, clipless pedals, new crankset, etc. I want a full sus that is a good all around bike. Found a 2008 Gary Fisher HIFI deluxe on craigslist for 900$. Has a fox rlc fork, RP2 rear shock, and elixir 5’s. You guys think its worth it? It’s in pretty good shape from what I see

Link to craigslist add…? It sounds like a pretty good deal but i would definitely go and check it all out first. I don’t know about your area but around here those HIFIs were very popular race bikes. That one may be very well used. Still worth looking into though.

Thanks for the reply man! I’ve never figured out why people won’t at least type yes or no as a reply, but they’ll comment on some random dumb picture of a squirrel. haha, sorry for the rant, just need you guys advice. It has a video link too. Looks pretty good, def gotta get rid of that stem though. way too huge! haha
Thanks again for the input man

STAY AWAY!
The older HiFi’s had MAJOR problems with the frames breaking. Several owners even broke more than one before a redesigned frame finally came out that addressed the issue. A big incovienence if you bought it from a dealer, ’cause you’ll get it replaced under warranty, but you’re without a bike for a while. But if you buy it off Craigslist and it breaks, too bad, so sad. You’re on your own. No warranty replacement.

Thanks man! When you say "the Older ones" does the 2008 fall into that category or the redesigned cat?

I believe they were redesigned in ’09 or ’10…so the ’08s were prone to breaking. (might want to double check when the redesign was done)
Gary Fishers in general seem to have a lot of problems with frame cracking/breaking. Now that they’re under the Trek label maybe that’ll change…
I’d stay away, if I were you. Check out these threads:

Redesign was in 2010 if my memory serves me well.
