From a recent survey, it seems there’s a fair number of us out there riding with some type of music player. Well, I’m convinced that these things have a definite personality and frequently mock us. Have you ever had a tune come up that just fits the moment too well for it to be really random?

Today, I’m out doing some off road and heading downhill into a tight turn. I hit a patch of leaves and the bike goes out from under me. I couldn’t get unclipped in time, so I end up rolling over on my back, still clipped to the bike. After I manage to unclip from the pedals and get myself untangled, I’m checking everything over and I realize my player is playing Joss Stone <i>"Bruised But Not Broken"</i>.

Too appropriate to be coincidence. Anyone coming up on me would have thought I’d sustained head damage the way I was laughing!

Anyone else have anything like this happen?

Yeah – this past week I started this tough climbing section and my asthma was acting up a bit when STP’s Interstate Love Song came on…lyrics include this line…"breathing is the hardest thing you’ll do.."

I also had an experience this summer just when I rode into a huge patch of Aspen trees, Welcome to the Jungle by GNR came on….

I don’t ride with music anymore, but the last time I did, I was BAKING in the sun on this sandy patch and sweating profusely – I was burning up. My MP3 player was spinning "South Texas Deathride" by The Union Underground. 😆

One that is really ironic/coincidental is "Freshies" (Keller Williams). It is written as a Ski anthem but it works for biking too!
