      <div class=”fr-view”>

      For anyone in, around the Moab area or anyone who has taken a day tour there.

      I’m hoping you wouldn’t mind helping me out. I’m taking a trip out west with a two day in Moab, and want to do a day of riding. There seem to be three main outfitters with guides and tours: Moab Cyclery, Poison Spider Bicycles, Chile Pepper Bike Shop and Rim tours. Can you recommend one over the others or are they about the same? Also, would you recommend Navajo Rocks or Klondike areas for an intermediate rider? Just for background, I am sixty and have been MTBing since 1986, but am on the way back to being in shape after quite a spell of fat & lazy. haha

      TIA,

      Muggs

      When I was hiring shuttle in Moab I went with Poison Spider. I wanted to try Yeti bike, which only they had at the moment. so I rented one from them and got shuttle as well. Other shops provide good service too.

      About trails, Slickrock is a must. It’s not too hard, not too easy. Just hard to believe there’s so much grip on this trail

      Skip Slickrock, it’s certainly unique, but you’ll have more fun otherwise imo.

      Of the 2 areas I’d recommend Navajo Rocks.  It’s 18 miles, more picturesque, and you feel like you are exploring more.

      The Klondike area, otoh, offers a myriad of trails in a slightly tighter area with the advantage of being able to increase or decrease both the miles and the difficulty.

      Hope that helps.

      I’ll second Navajo Rocks.  That place is great!  Good XC riding and lots of Moab flavor with some slickrock, some optional exposure, lots of rocks!  You can also take Mag 7 down to Gemini Bridges Rd when you’re done and then ride back to town (if it’s a 1-way shuttle) with optional Brand Trails on the way back too if you want a really long day.

      I had a good experience with Poison Spider.  Nice bikes to rent and a shuttle up to the Whole Enchilada.  Great day of riding, some modest exposure but not too crazy.

      If you’re looking for a guide, be sure to check out Western Spirit, who’s based in Moab!

      +1 on Navajo Rocks

      +Infinity on skipping Slickrock
