Hi! The back wheel on my Trek 3500 Series 3 has some play in it. I’ve already tightened the Quick-Release skewer, to no avail. What is causing this, and is it something I can fix? Also, on my Dad’s Trek Rumblefish (Gary Fisher) the Rockshox Reverb dropper seat post is stuck. It will move about 3 cm, then get stuck. Again, should he just buy a new dropper post? Or can we just fix it ourselves?
Thanks,
Asher

Asher,
It sounds like you may have an issue with your rear hub, but it’s hard to diagnose something like that without seeing it.
Since you are unsure of the causes of both problems my recommendation would be to take a quick trip to your local bike shop for repairs.

I believe the 3500 is an older bike, isn’t it? If so, it may not have cartridge bearings, so you you may just need to tighten the locknut/cone a little on the hub to snug up the bearings little.
For the Reverb… make sure the post clamp isn’t too tight.
In either case, like Moto Bike Mike said, visit a shop. You can never usually go wrong with that.

Thank you for replying. I took it into a bike shop, and they said they’d have to completely rebuild the rear hub. However, the Reverb is still stuck.
