I’ve been riding my Trek marlin 29er for a few years now and I’m looking to get something a little more aggressive. I’ve had my eye on the Trek Remedy 9 29er for a while now and my LBS(trek dealer) has an annual sale in march that is 20% off anything and everything. This means I could pick up a Remedy 9 for around $3800, just want to see if anyone had any other suggestions for an all mountain bike with a similar spec for around the same price.

hard to say seeing as I could find no specs on the trek webpage.  I see it has a fox float shock and Rockshox fork. That seems odd, most companies keep the shock and fork the same brand.

You don’t even want to know how many times I’ve watched that video lol

I have no doubt that it rips but I have no other experience with other brands or bikes. I’ve been satisfied with my experience with trek thus far but I want to be sure I’m getting the best bang for my buck. I know there is a lot of good bikes out there, some that people are very passionate about. Just want to hear other opinions.

I’ve personally ride the bike on a rental in Bend, OR and there is nothing else like the bike

    • #182398

Luckily for you there a whole lot of great bikes in price range

    • #182399

There are literally dozens of bikes in your price range and in the same bracket as the Remedy. The best thing you can do is to try as many bikes as you can.

Trek makes some great bikes though, so if you’re happy with them (and with your shop) the Remedy is a solid choice.

      Santa Cruz!

If you buy it just based off the Bible of Bike Tests reviews, you’re not alone! I picked up the 2015 Camber EVO based on their reviews in 2014 (and my LBS hooking me up with an awesome deal.) Since you have some time before March, the new Bible of Bikes just hit newsstands so start reading/watching!

There is no shortage of great bikes in the same price/capability range as the Remedy. This really is an awesome time to be a mountain biker! Like Aaron said, if you’re happy with Trek, the Remedy, and your LBS go for it!

p.s. I have no idea if that quoted it correctly or not.

@jared13 Thanks for the insight. I have been reading and watching, unfortunately I don’t think they reviewed the Remedy this year. I don’t think it had any updates other than the color, which is fine because I’m loving the purple on the 2016 model. They did review the Fuel ex, and had good things to say about it, which is basically a shorter travel version of the remedy.

Go on pinkbike and look at the remedy it just won bike of the year

I saw that. I think I’ve made up my mind.

I have a good relationship with my LBS, there is no reason to start over somewhere else. Especially if I have to drive quite a distance for any other brand.

I live in the metroDetroit area, but I take vacations a couple times a year to more epic places and I want a bike that keeps up. I think the Remedy will be just that, with pinkbike barely refraining from calling it a quiver-killer, which is what I’m looking for.

Nice dude congrats on finding your bike have fun sick bike

    • #182857

I’ve heard the Remedy 29ers are on high demand and back ordered till spring.  I have the 650b version and it rips, so I would imagine the 29 version is a tank.

    • #182890

Personably of had rode most of treks lineup at a demo the remedy 29er was my favorite bike by far it rolls over everything while the 27.5 didn’t feel as nice and bombproof if I were you I would definitely stick with the 29er
