I’ve been looking at some wheels from the Chinese company light-bicycle.com. I’m getting very mixed reviews looking around on line, but they are very cheep. So has anybody tried them?
I’ve noticed a trend, in the reviews, from pore quality a few years ago to better lately. (the wheel builds still seam to be uneven) I got carbon fever, and i’m libel to do something crazy here.

How cheap is cheap?? Coming from Asia, the S&H might be a factor as well. What kind of bad press are they getting?? Is it a wheel true / quality build or is it catastrophic failure???

Shipping around $75 to US for a wheel set. 29er Rims starting at about $180 for mtb and wheel sets starting at $568, more like $859 for wider(38mm) rims with Hope hubs.
Just trying to get a feel for comments on forums, I saw reports of catastrophic failures a few years ago, but more recently reports of both good experiences and some with basic QA issues like improper dish, and spokes loosening, and minor truing issues. There are epic sized threads on the subject around the web. lot to sort through. 😕 http://www.light-bicycle.com/carbon-mou … heels/29er

This company is legit – wheels are awesome!   The only issues I have seen online is people cracking the rims but that stuff is going to happen whether they come from Envy or LB.  Trust me on that I have seen it!

      RTM

I’ve bought two sets of rims from them and highly recommend them.  I did the builds myself so I can’t vouch for their pre-built wheels.  the first pair 3 years ago.  good quality, had a couple blemishes but structurally sound.  they eventually gave up after a beating that would have trashed any rim.  the second set is really top quality.  they’ve come a long way in 3 years.  beautifully built, modern dimensions and they’ve proven so far to be strong.  I put a ding in the sidewall and a few scratches but nothing that’ll cause any trouble.  they have a much better warranty and crash replacement policy now.  the shipping and paypal fees are a bit of a bummer, but for just over $400 you get a pair of carbon rims that rival most.  if you have the inclination to do the build yourself I’d go that route.   as for carbon rims in general, you will notice the weight and stiffness.  its not hype.  fantastic upgrade.
