This is one of the many reasons why mountain biking is amazing: the challenges of overcoming difficulties out on the trail translate to more resilience in overcoming difficulties in the rest of life as well.

+1 and I have had more than my fair share of overcoming difficulties in the past four years. Somehow the bike always seems to calm me down a bit on (or after) challenging rides.

Today I was all pissed because my vertigo was just off of the charts and I was dizzy as hell so what did I do? I took a ride. Nothing seemed to work today. My legs were like bricks and my lungs felt like crap but I took off in the mud anyway. Cursed myself for it at the time. I can’t say while riding I got any satisfaction from it but hours later I feel much better. I am happy I didn’t just mope around and lay down on the couch. I have to say I’m glad I went…even though at the time it was a crappy ride. Good article by the way.

Lot of truth in that. I’ve had days when as much as I love riding, I didn’t want too. But after I did…wow! 😃
