Hey everybody. Excited to be angling my first mountain bike purchase and since it’s about model clearance time I’m wondering if I can use this to my advantage somehow. After long consideration I’ve settled on the 2013 Giant Anthem X 4, which is the lowest appointed bike in the series retailing at my lbs for $1925. So what I’m wondering is…if I can stand to wait til around September to make my purchase (when the 2014s are coming out) can I reasonably expect to find a dealer somewhere within say 150 miles of Lexington, KY that would sell me a medium sized 2013 Anthem X 4 at a clearance price discount? If it’s too risky to wait that long to see if anybody will actually offer this model at a discount then I’ll go ahead and pull the trigger now at the $1925 price. But if it might be worth waiting I’ll probably take my chances and see if I can get a few hundred bucks off.

      Thanks for your help

I can’t say through personal experience as 100% of my bikes were purchased used but I’ve read in numerous locations that year end clearance is a fantastic way to pick up the bike you want.

I would assume that there is of course a risk involved with this as you’re dealing with the unknown availability so you might have to make some concessions on the bike you end up getting but that’s usually the trade off of getting something at a deep discount.
