Anybody interested in doing some riding in Colorado Springs? I just moved here and have been riding solo style for a few weeks now. I’m down to ride with anyone. Hit me up or post replies.

Kyle, I would get out with you but I’m battling knee problems right now so I’m really not riding much. It sucks getting old…
Just thought I would let you know that some locals are reading your post.

Hey bonk, how bad is the knee???I’ve got a new riding partner that just had surgery on his knee from playing soccer and guess what the doctor ordered for his recovery???you guessed it,bicycling.and guess what his first choice for a bike was???you guessed it again,a mountain bike. That put’s me up to 5 regular riding partner’s.hahahahahah.Cant seem to express how cool it is to have people to ride with and the more the merrier.I still end up riding alone somtime’s,although it is still nice to know that next week I could be riding with whoever and not just myself or the same ol’ same ol’.
Who want’s to ride some front range trail’s???Better yet, wouldnt it be cool to start a frontrange mtb club or group???? -

I don’t mind riding solo but riding with people tends to be a bit more fun and you push yourself more. It would be cool to get a group of people together for a ride once or twice a week.

I would definitely be interested in getting involved in some group rides. Once you figure out a time and a place……….I should be there. I am pretty familiar with most of the stuff in the springs as well. I am planning to go to monarch crest trail on Tuesday if anyone is interested. Has anybody reidden this year? The high valley center says the conditions are good…..we will see!!

The shuttle leaves at 8am from salida, so we plan on meeting at the safeway on the corner of 115 and Academy and leaving by 5:30 am.
Let me if you are still up for it.

My name’s James, very new on here but love to bike…would love to meet up with you guys if you plan on doing Elks Trail (or any trail this Saturday/Sunday). Was going to run Falcon Trail on Saturday but am always up for some group rides.

Cool man. I’ve been wanting to do Falcon trail myself. If you want we could do that Saturday and Elk Park on Sunday. I’m pretty new to the Springs but am loving the riding around here. I’ve mostly been doing Cheyenne Canyon stuff and have been wanting to try the Elk Park trail.

I’m in! Falcon Trail is pretty good. Hard climbs in areas but rewards you with some fun downhills. 13 mile loop, will tire you out. 😎 Never been on the Elk Trail but know where the trailhead is at. We’ll have to work out the logistics for that one. I think its mostly downhill, especially after making the left onto Barr Trail. Should be a blast. What’s your name again?
We can convoy over to the beginning of the Barr Trail, leave a car, then head over to the Ranger station and either park and hitch our way to the trail head or just drive up and park at the trail head. I’m good either way, unless anyone knows of a better idea. Its still early and I’m only halfway through my coffee. 😮

My name is Kyle. Sounds like a good plan, hopefully we can get a couple of other guys in on this.
I was kind of thinking that it might be better to go down the Ute pass trail after Elk Park meets up with the Barr just to avoid all of the hiking traffic. What time were you thinking about doing Falcon on Saturday??

Kyle, nice to meet ya. As far as Elk’s Trail goes, I’m good and that sounds like a great idea. The more the merrier, I say!
Would 0900 be okay for starting on Falcon? I’d rather not wait any longer because its going to be a rather warm weekend. Thoughts?

Hey-
My name is Ryan, and I’m new to the springs as well. Sounds like y’all are putting together a little ride for this weekend. Should be a blast. And while this is the point in the message when I’d love to say, I’m In! It’ll have to be another time.
But I wanted to throw a comment in here and say hey, there are some other cats in town here too that would love to get on a ride.Have fun this weekend, and if you can drop me a line at [email protected].
Cheers,
Ryan -

0900 works for me. Where do you plan on parking? I’m not real familiar with the Academy.

Heya Kyle. You know, I think the best spot to park is at this little turnoff on the northside of the stadium.
I come through the south entrance and take the main drag through and then make the first left after passing the stadium. Go up a little ways (1/4-1/2 mile maybe) and on your right there’s a little dirt turnoff/parking area. I’ll show a few minutes prior. I have a bright red 07 Chev Impala–rather hard to miss.
See you then! -

Anybody interested, we’re going to do the Elk Park Trail tomorrow morning. We’ll meet at 8 at the Barr trail area and shuttle up to the top. Probably try and hit the Ute Pass trail on the way down and avoid hikers coming up.

Kevin, try the other post (after work rides) or reply to this before sunday. I really want to get back into riding now that I have a job that can support me again. I can go any day of the week after 4pm. We can go to palmer park, ute valley or even red rocks. Ive only ridden the first two but hike all over the springs everyday.
Anyway hit me up, I got a gnarly (not a good thing) old hart tail fuji that I refuse to give up on.

Hey what’s up, my name’s Kyle and I’m visiting Colorado in two weeks. I’m looking to ride a good bit when I’m there. Does anyone know of any organized rides during the week July 12-15? Also, are there any trails I should definitely check out (I’ll be mostly in Colorado Springs, but will be up in Boulder for a little bit)? Thanks
