Giant XTC2 vs Trek 6000

I am looking at buying either one of these as a starter bike. I have ridden both of these bikes and they both seem to fit well. Does anyone have any opinions of one over the other?

hey man I’ve had a 6000 for a while now. I love to ride and I ride hard. Not every weekend by any means, but what I’ve put my bike through and as much as I actually get to get in trail time with not updating parts, I’d have to say it’s done pretty well. The shifter is showing it’s age, but after over eight years with little problems not bad at all.
