Hey I am planning on taking a trip to Garmisch and was wondering if anyone had some info on the trails around there. I’ve heard they are nice, but that all I know.

You should try the Eibsee trail. It has been a while since I have gone, but I do plan on going again this coming spring/summer. A buddy and I went on this trail around the lake and it was a great workout and had awesome scenery. I have a bunch of pics. Anyways, you have to pedal from garmisch through Grainau, and when you see the lift for the Zugspitz on your left, you should see a gravel trail on the right directly after the Zugspitze lift. Take that trail and follow the signs for Eibsee. I don’t know the exact mileage of the trail, but it is quite a haul. You will spend a couple or few hours going up. Then you have some nice downhills around the lake. Like I said, I plan on going this next spring or summer, so I can get proper directions in mile increments, with descents, since I have a nice computer now.

Hi,
let me know what type of trails you are looking for. There are tons of great trails arround Garmisch. Not so much real freeriding but lots of good cross country with long loops that squeeze your energy……)

It’s a little late for this post… a year old… but I thought I would add my 2 cents in case anyone else sees this. RowdyREBEL is right… the Eibsee trail is pretty good. Especially if you hit it from the back side and drop in (closer to the Kramerspitz). Also, I know they sell trail books at the Specialized store in town and you can always go to this site: http://www.gps-tour.info/de/touren.html which is freakin’ awesome. If you don’t have a GPS and can’t take advantage of the .gpx files on there, just do a screen capture and make your own trail map. Just make sure you filter the search for mountain biking.
Happy Trails!
