Remember back in September (or was it August) when Garmin announced the new color screen, mapping capable Edge GPS series? The word then was that they’d be available in time for the holidays, then it was early 2008, now it’s …?

I saw that Performance Bike had the Edge 705 listed on their website and about a week ago it said "Shipping on Feb 8." I went back on Feb 9 and the site said "Shipping Mar 7." Somehow I don’t believe it will ship in March, perhaps we’ll have the 705 by Christmas 2008 ;) Anyone else waiting for these to become available?

Any news on when the 705 replacement is due out? I really want the 705, but if a replacement is due out in a few months I’d wait. Cheapest I can find the 705 for is 550 for the base units, but I’ve heard that places had them on clearance, which to me means….

That’s the first I’ve heard about a new Edge. In fact when I googled "garmin edge 705 replacement" this thread came up 😀

I’ll see what I can find out from the Garmin reps at Interbike next month. The last 705 "revision" just added an orange and blue version to the standard black and gray.
