About this time last year I got back into Mt biking after about 8yrs. away. I bought a hard tail (DB Sync’r) thinking that it was all I needed, well since about half way through last summer I wish I would have went full suspension. I ride maybe once a week, I like to ride kinda aggressive I guess.  I would like to use many components off my current bike as possible to keep price down. I can not seem to really find any framesets new except Carbon and I do not want a Carbon frame. All the used ones I find are either Carbon, or have a problem finding 27.5. Most frames out there used are 26. I’ve been looking on Pink bike, ebay, but does anyone have any other recommendations? Thanks

What’s your price range? There may be some new frames within your budget if you can’t find anything used. If you can’t find anything on Pinkbike or ebay you might just be out of luck. The best advice I can give is be patient and keep looking. You could also try craigslist, although you’re probably not gonna find anything better than on Pinkbike or ebay.

You should also talk to your local shop and ask what you need to look out for that will be compatible with the components from your current bike.

I can’t be over $1000. I would like to be less, but to be realistic. There have been 2 so far 1 on ebay that I think I should have grabbed and missed because I wasn’t sure about it, and 1 on pink bike that I thought was a little on the high side and it sold. I am in no rush either. Also, I have the bike to ride now, if I get a frame and some stuff don’t work, I keep riding and piece it together. I already know more then likely after I get a frame I will be looking for a fork as well. I know the headset and BB may not work, but I have a 142x12mm Axle which seems to be what most frames I’m looking at are so hopefully ok there.

While I’m here the 1 on ebay I mentioned was a Haro Shift R3. Not sure if Haro MTB are even worth looking at. It sold for $475 with Monarch R rear shock. Also it was “New-Take off” from some shop on there. The price seemed solid and I went back and it was gone.

Have you looked at Commencal bikes? They seem to be good value for money and at the moment you can get a meta am V4 or V4.2 for around $800 or so. The only thing I’d be careful of is their sizing tends to run small from what I’ve heard, so it may not work if you’re especially tall.

You have a huge range of possibilities for a used frame. It is tough for anyone to make a worthwhile recommendation without some more specifics. There are tons of frames that would work, but sans details no one can help you. Do you go into restaurants and just ask the server to bring you food? It would be helpful to know your current size bike, your terrain, skill level, where you want to ride, etc.

Yeah, for sure. More then a recommendation on bike, I was looking for other places to look to buy.

Sure places like Craigslist, mtbr.com classifieds can work. As with any of them you need to know what you are looking for or it will be a long and fruitless journey.
