      Hey folks…

Sub-9 Productions, a grassroots mountain bike event promotions company, is excited to announce two up and coming events that are welcoming to riders of all ages and skill levels and encourage families to come out and participate together! These upcoming events take place at Brown County State Park in beautiful Nashville, Indiana. Info about these trails can be found at http://www.browncountymountainbiking.com.

First up is the Sub-9 Super D Mountain Bike Race & Campout on Sunday, August 19th. This event has been USA Cycling sanctioned in the past (and was even the 2011 IN/KY State Super D Championship), but we’ve decided to drop the USAC sanctioning to focus on the fun! We want our events to be warm and welcoming to ALL riders… not just ones out to chase points!

We’re still offering professional chip timing, exciting spectator areas, cash payouts, the ever popular SRAM Speed Trap and more! We also have all new Intro and Junior categories who will race a shortened 2.5 mile course as well as several fun, new races to add to the weekend festivities:

      Couple’s Race
Grab a partner and get signed up for the Couple’s Race! The Couple’s Race is for co-ed teams who will complete together on the entire 5.5 mile course. Teams must start and finish together!

      "Drag" Race
Rules for the new "Drag" Race are pretty simple…. ride any bike you want, but guys must dress up as a gal (skirt, wig, etc) or gals dress as a guy (mustache, tie, etc)! Riders will line up for a LeMans style start. Fastest rider wins!

      Klunker Race
The new Klunker category is sure to bring back the fun and spirit of the original Repac races from long ago (when mountain biking first started in the mountains of Marin, CA). Category is open to men and women and riders will line up for a LeMans style start. Bikes must meet the "klunker" crietera: coaster brake, no fixed gear, no hand brakes, single speed. Fastest rider wins!

More info in the Sub-9 Super D can be found at http://www.sub9superD.com.

If racing isn’t your thing, join us in October for the 8th Annual Brown County Breakdown!

Join us on for an entire weekend of mountain biking, live bluegrass music, plenty of free beer, bike and product demos and much, much more! The Breakdown is the largest fundraising event for the Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (http://www.hmba.org), bringing in more than $23,000 in 2011 and over $90,000 since our 2005 inception! The Brown County Breakdown isn’t a race… it’s a great ride in the woods with a few hundred of your closest friends. This event is only open to 650 participants.

      2012 Event Highlights include:
~ Free bike and product demos on Saturday, Oct. 13 including Niner, Trek, Cannondale, SRAM, Shimano and more. 2011 demos also included Giant, SKS-Germany, Felt Bicycles, Scott and Mavic.

~ Limited group tent camping at the Start/Finish area on Friday and Saturday night.

~ Commemorative Brown County Breakdown pint glasses for registered participants who are also current HMBA-IMBA paid members (while supplies last).

~ Trail, trail and more trail! We pack more sweet single track into this event than any other mountain bike event around. The 25 mile route is 100% single track trail. The other routes, including the 100 mile route are at least 80% single track trail.

~ Tons of great prizes given away randomly to participants!

~ Lots of live bluegrass music! Join us throughout the weekend for live performances from local, regional and nationally recognized bluegrass bands.

~ Complimentary beer tasting sponsored by Upland Brewing Company (Bloomington, IN).

~ A huge hog roast at the end of the ride provided by the legendary Jug’s Catering. The menu includes fresh roasted pork that melts in your mouth, fried chicken, baked beans, au gratin potatoes, corn on the cob, Brown County fried biscuits with apple butter (how many can you eat?), pasta salad and ice cold iced tea to wash it all down!

~ Access to the hog roast for friends, family, and non-riders.

~ Great rest stops provided by Nebo Ridge Bicycles, Bicycle Garage Indy, and Friends of Brown County State Park that feature lots of snacks and fluids.

~ Join us on Saturday for a "Family Fun Ride" at 2 p.m. This fun, casual ride is open to anyone of all ages and mountain biking experience and is a great way to introduce friends and family to the joys of mountain biking. This ride is free and open to the general public.

~ Anyone that has attended this event knows that it’s the participants, volunteers and sponsors that make it one of the premier mountain bike events in the country. You’ll have a great time and meet some of the nicest folks. Everyone is intent on having a very good time!

More info and a link to register can be found at http://www.browncountybreakdown.com!
