So in the plumbing world they say that if you haven’t had a leak you haven’t been doing it long enough. My question here is if you dont fall are you not riding hard enough ? Or do you just suck at riding. Either way it sure is fun going fast. Thank god for good knee pads. Oh yea my buddies tell me Im good at the tuck and roll.

When I skied a lot I felt if I was not falling a few times I was not pushing myself. Snow is a little more forgiving then dirt and rock. Do I take spills on the bike? Yes. Do I try to avoid it? Yes. It can hurt. I am a x/c rider. I am sure if I rode free style or DH my view may be a little different.

IMO if your not bleeding after a ride you didn’t go hard enough. Pain heals and chicks dig scars.Ride hard and have fun

Basically what he said 😀 I’d say the more technical the riding you do, the more likely you are to fall.

Riding my home trails that I’m so used to (and are relatively easy, at least for me, in the grand scheme of things), I don’t fall that often anymore…. but it happens every now and again! Was visiting some trails in a nearby town about a month ago and a rutted switchback snuck up on me, got my front wheel jacked sideways in the turn, and had a picture-perfect endo! Wished I had a helmet cam on for that one.

My experience is that if you’re bleeding after a ride you did something stupid, and bloody wounds will put a damper on your love life 😆

Nah, crashing sucks, I try not to do it. Of course it happens, but it’s not something I go out looking for, and it shouldn’t happen on every ride. Between medical bills and broken bike parts, it can get expensive fast. I’m a XC guy though, freeride is a different animal.

      Like I said…it does happen.

Me do something stupid never happens. I don’t fall on every ride that’s just the good stories, my wife does Spartan races so some blood has no effect on my love life.

I was out of work for a while, with no insurance, so was taking it easy because I didn’t need any hospital bills… Seems that I crashed more then, than when I’m not worrying about it! Also, its not always riding over your head that will get you, I’ve had crashes on trails I’ve ridden a hundred times, just by being over-confident or some unexpected change to the trail.

Ha! Yeah, crashing and falling are party of mountain biking. I’d [i:2l2g2064]like [/i:2l2g2064]to think that the better I ride, the less I fall, but that’s when Murphy’s Law sneaks up on you and you fall doing something basic or some little stupidness.

Example: I did 2-3 hours of awesome XC in Bear Brook (NH) last season, with no issues. Then, at the top of the last descent, [i:2l2g2064]not even moving[/i:2l2g2064], I tipped over to the side and suddenly couldn’t unclip. Just fell over like a messy drunk. Kinda hilarious.

But yeah, as you get older, try to fall less. 😃

If I didn’t come home with something bloodied, my wife would begin to worry!

I don’t roll over the dirt nearly as easy or graceful as my tires do. 😀
