Fall Rain

This rain this season is killing me. I’ve had to bag two trips to Vermont because of it, and now this upcoming weekend, which had 30 miles on Saturday planned out (Sleepy Hollow, etc) is looking to be a wash.

      Dagnabbit.

Here’s hoping for a dry November!!!

Yeah, it’s been stupid wet here in VT all spring/summer/and now fall (usually our driest time). It’s been OK mid-week a lot of times on the shorter rides that dry more quickly, but some of the bigger epics have been closed on weekends or for long stretches.

Luckily, this weekend looks pretty dry for the Highland Enduro in NH…I hate pedalling in rainy, 40 deg weather.

I’m hoping for a dry November too!

Good luck, man! Hope the race goes well for you.

I’m going to give it a shot tomorrow AM and head up to VT regardless. Might be some smaller rides at Sleepy Hollow or Millstone, but what the hey – I want to move my legs somewhere besides Massachusetts!

Y’all could move out here to Colorado…it was sunny and 60’s/70’s all week. 😃

(I moved here from Maine, and they couldn’t drag me back there for anything)

We have been really lucky here in the Southeast! Lots of rain recently, but it’s mostly been during the week, with sunny weekends 😃

I feel for ya guys, though!

Per se my 4 hour ride to Colchester, VT was more for social reason than riding, but I wish I got to see more! Stupid rain and mud… I still put down about 10 miles at Sunny Hollow, which was great, but I can’t wait to go back when it’s dry and put some real time in for some loops all over that neck of the woods!

Next time you’re up let me know. I ride Sunny Hollow a lot at lunch time since it’s about a 10 minute pedal from my work. The Fellowship has been doing pretty constant trail upgrading back in there.

Will do, man – my cousin lives in Colchester and works in Burlington, so we get together up there 1-2 times a season for some riding in his neck of the woods. I’ll let you know next time I’m around there.

      How’d the Enduro go?

It was fun, but I didn’t do well. I crashed hard on the practice run in the morning. Took a lot out of me (my knee pad came off, cut up my knee on a rock, impacted my back and hands badly, too).

I run a 1×9 setup and the past month I’ve been getting a lot of chain jams between the chainring and the inner bashguard. So I ordered a Blackspire Stinger tensioner and installed it, hoping it would solve the issue, but no dice. My chain jammed once or twice on every timed special stage, so when you have to spend 2-3 minutes fixing your chain on a 6-7 minute stage, I got hosed on the time front. Oh well, there’s always next year!

Speaking of fall rain, how about fall snow?!? Barely squeezed a 20 mile ride in on saturday the 29th and got back just before the rain started falling. Woke up sunday morning and we had 14.5 inches of snow on the ground! O well its back to 50 degrees here in nh so im back at it.

Yeah, that snow was crazy. Even worse than just the snow is the damage out there. Rode Foxboro last Monday after the snow and it was worse than when Irene came. Trees down all over the place. Spent more time sawing than I did riding. Sunny and clear this weekend!

Funny that since that snow storm, NE riding has been great! I got out twice last weekend and am loving how dry and packed everything has been. Ebb and flow, I guess…
