My son wants to take his Boy Scout troop on a bikepacking trip. While he’s an experienced racer the rest of the kids fitness and ability varies from “Okay” to “total butterball”.  So I’m looking for a two day trip that is slightly more interesting than the Silver Comet but no where as epic as TransGeorgia.

    Any suggestions?

Check out the Bartram trail in the Augusta area on Clarks Hill Lake.

From West Dam to Mistletoe State Park it’s about 20-30 miles, and mostly flat singletrack. There’s a campground (Petersburg) a few miles from West Dam, then there’s also camping at Mistletoe State Park at the other end. The connection between the Keg Creek trail and Mistletoe involves a bit of gravel road route finding, but I know it can be done.
