      Some of you saw my last post that I finally got a new bike! Everything is going great. Only thing that’s missing is a dropper post. I was on Chain Reaction and found one for $135. Specifically this one, http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/us/en/brand-x-ascend-dropper-seatpost/rp-

      Two questions;

      1. Does anybody own this one or have heard of it? It looks like it has some really good reviews but I’m still skeptical.

      2. It gives me two options, 30.9mm or 31.6mm. I was looking up specs for my 2017 Giant Stance 2 and it says something about my seat post being 31.8. Does that mean this DP is too small for mine?

      Thanks in advance for any info!

      Haven’t tried the Brand X Ascend dropper post, but as far as the sizing goes, I think you’re looking at the handlebar diameter. According to this, the 2017 Stance has a 30.9mm seat post:

      That’s a great price and seems like it’s worth a shot!

      Jeff,

      Thank you. I looked too fast. I guess I was just too excited when I was looking. Haha.

      Haha, no worries. I tend to mix up those seatpost diameter numbers myself. I never remember which one is the .6 and which one is the .9.

      Brand X is CRCs owned brand.   I have purchased $1000’s of dollars worth of stuff from CRC and they are the best at customer service.  If you have any issues with it just call them up and they will help you get it fixed ASAP.  I personally have a Stealth, just because it came with my bike so I can’t tell you directly the feel of that post.  But if I was looking I would not hesitate, as long as it makes your criteria list.

      <p style=”text-align: left;”>I have the Brand X Ascend, so do a few of my buddies. I definitely recommend it.  Besides the fact that it is very affordable, it works great, it’s not sluggish, simple to install, and it comes (at least mine did) with a southpaw lever, which is brilliant and intuitive (I have a 1×11 so no shifter on left).  My bike has been from muddy/ icy conditions to the dry heat of Central Texas, and this dropper is working better than any other part in my bike.  Just make sure you get the right size for your bike and enjoy!</p>

      I have that exact dropper post on my Ragley Big Wig right now. I’m very pleased with it. It’s smooth and has very little side to side play. I’ve had it for 3 months or so with regular use and it still works like new. The lever that it comes with isn’t the greatest and feels like it could snap with a decent crash, but it does work. For the price, I think it’s an excellent dropper post.

      Thank you all for the feed back! My wife and I went on a 4 day trip to southern France so I was not able to check up. I will be buying this post within the next couple of weeks! 😀

      Whaever you do I would just stay away from chain reaction cycles if your in the US for dropper posts. We had a really bad experience trying to buy one from them that was a “great deal” as well. Never ended up reciving it and had to get PayPal involved in order to get our money back. In all it took almost 2.5 months to get our money back after not reciving it ( we paid extra for expedited 3 day shipping). Just a heads up since your obviously in the market.

      Roden,

      Good to know. I’m stationed in Germany so I will have it shipped to one of my buddies that lives in a Germany out on the German economy. Pretty sure they don’t ship to APO anyways. lol
