I am in the market for another set of pedals and I can’t decide between the Acids and the Mallets.
Anybody try the acid pedals yet? Any comments?

I don’t think you can go wrong with either, ‘cept if you’re concerned about weight & available platform.
The base Mallet weighs (claimed) 540g @ an MSRP of $110.
The base Acid weighs (claimed) 395g @ an MSRP of $120.You [i:3mmjvyvu]could[/i:3mmjvyvu] pedal on the Acids without being clipped in, but it wouldn’t be secure or comfortable. They do offer more of a platform than the Candy or Smarty, which would help in "oh-crap" moments where you can’t clip-in fast enough.
The Mallets can be run very comfortably unclipped, especially now with the addition of traction pins instead of just the end-plates.

Pulled the trigger on some acids yesterday from Blue Sky Cycling. $49 a pair.

I had some acid 2’s, just keep in mind the acid and the mallet series are DH/Freeride designs…so they have greatplatforms to push and jump with but are bulky, I destroyed my acid 2’s in the first ride. I slammed them into a log and the carbon fiber bed fell out of them. I think the Candy series and the Smarty series are better XC/All Mountain pedals….

I just bought a set of Mallet C’s off of JensonUSA for $49. They are a little heavy, but feel solid. I’ve dropped about 10 pounds since riding last season so that should more than make up the difference. 😃
