Forgive me if this is posted elsewhere (and for cross-posting from MTBR), I was unable to find any reference on either site.

To make a long story short, it seems like things are going to change pretty drastically for Brandywine + Woodlawn in the not terribly distant future.

Woodlawn has been trying to sell some land for a while (see Woodlawn Trustees want to sell Concord property | Chadds Ford Live) and it looks like it is going to happen. The question at this point seems to be whether it will be sold to developers, or bundled with Brandywine Creek State Park land to create a new national park. While the national park change *could* turn out to be good for mountain bikers, that is far from certain (it seems like whether mountain biking is allowed in national parks is largely left to the superintendent appointed by the park service).

Clearly the national park is the better of the two options – but it is important that we get involved early in the process to make clear how important the trails are to us. The only place I’ve seen this discussed very much is the Cradles to Canes message board (CradlesToCanes : Cradles to Canes) but figured folks here would have some interest. If we can bring all the little fragmented groups of riders together I think it improves our chances of being heard.

      edit:
Looks like the land has already been sold to a conservation group: http://www.delawareonline.com/article/2 … thin-reach

Some of this land has been preserved through the national monument declaration, but some of the woodlawn land is still being considered for retail and residential development. There is a petition to stop it and more information available through here: https://www.change.org/petitions/save-t … ord-twp-pa

I always get turned around when I ride there but I think the area in PA that is slated for development includes the trails around the vineyard for those familiar with the area.
