I’m coming back to the States early…. I have a herniated disc and pinched nerve.

But that won’t keep me from the trails, and in fact, the doctors told me that bike riding is good for me as it’ll strengthen my core muscles and help protect my spine.

So sometime this summer or fall, all of our Colorado members need to get together for a ride!

Glad to hear your getting to come back early. I’m hope that Nomad is ready for some single track abuse.

I’m game but my bike was stolen. Anyone know of any places that donate bikes (yeah right)?

I have a bike now, it is a MTB, but it’s old, and worn, and I can throw down pretty good on the trails, so I’m hesitant to use this one. It’s my urban transportation.

If any of you guys know of anyone with an extra bike preferably with disc-brakes, let me know. I probably can scrape together some money from my parents, seeing how I’m not working right now.

Thanks though. BTW, the bike I had stolen is in some of my pictures, a Raleigh M80, XT components (I added), and Maxxis tires.

      Thanks,,

      That sucks, man!

I have a Diamondback Response that’s still back in Iraq, but that won’t make it back here until after the rest of my unit comes back, ie- Sept.-Nov.

However, I will recommend that you look for a Response of your own. Surprisingly, it’s a pretty good frame, a massive improvement over the old Walmart DBs. The top-end Response comes with disc brakes, and Alivio drivetrain, Truvativ crankset & BB, an RST Gila fork, and halfway decent wheels. I think they run about $400.

If you find one, swap out the Shimano drivetrain with a SRAM X-7 setup, replace the RST fork with a RockShox Judy or Manitou Black fork, and change the disc brakes to an Avid BB7 outfit. Everything else is fine for just getting you back out on the trail.

I was planning on doing just the same with my Response, and keeping it as a loaner bike/commuter.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. I’ll see what I can find.
