Coldwater Mountain to get 11 more miles of bike trails, thanks to grant
ANNISTON, Alabama –Coldwater Mountain will be getting 11 more miles of trails thanks to a grant announced this week by Gov. Robert Bentley. The $350,000 grant was announced Wednesday. It also will pay for renovation of five existing miles of trail at the 4,083-acre complex, which already has more than 25 miles of biking trails.
The grant is administered through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
Coldwater Mountain, managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, has quickly become one of the premier mountain biking trails in the Southeast, and Anniston has been marketing it nationally.
When completed, the complex will have about 50 miles of trail, with differing levels of complexity for both bikers and runners.

It pained me to go right by this area and not be able to ride earlier this week. 😐
Maybe next time, it is always so hard to ride on my work trips. Blew by Chatanooga too.

Been to CW thrice now. Its amazing to think it will continue to get bigger and bigger as its already a ‘destination’ to me. Can’t wait for the additional mileage.
I wish there was a site that kept progress better though. Both the webpage and facebook page are a bit lacking in the ‘trail progress’ arena.

These guys need to be doing monthly work parties out there. Two years ago when we started riding there it was unreal. Now the jumps are rounding off and the lines are washing. It’s still a lot of fun there but not what it could be. They should be buying equipment to get to the hard to reach areas rather than building more they wont maintain.
