Before 1x drivetrains the answer to that question would have been Shimano XT or SLX. But I need hubs for the Sram Eagle drivetrain which require XD drivers. So whats a durable high-quality affordable workhorse hub with an XD driver?

Hope Pro 4’s work great and can be had for $220. I have a set on my bike and they have remained trouble free for more than a year and a half. Otherwise you can find assorted SRAM hubs with XD drivers for under $100.

I used the NX cassette on my 1×12 conversion. You will have to give up the 9 tooth on the top end, but wasn’t that big of a deal for me. The rest of it was GX. YMMV
