im having a hard time deciding which bike to get. im stuck between the two.

what do you guys think will be better for trails? both are similarly priced. my budget is under $2000

happy to hear for your opinions 🙂

i wouldn’t count out Pivot’s Mach 6 Carbon 2300$$…motobecane probably has something similar to specialized for half the price..there was also a wicked something carbon fiber bike that was rediculously lightweight for 3g

Honestly I don’t think you can go wrong with either of those. When I was shopping for my first full FS this Spring, I decided on the Camber but only because I got a sweet deal on a 2016 model. Both were in my sights, and given an even shot I may have opted for the Trance (only because the rear shock is not proprietary like the Camber’s) but I love my Camber. I think you’re going to be thrilled with either one.

Looks like the new Camber comes with a 1×10 drivetrain as opposed to the Trance’s 2×9. I’ve already switched my Camber to 1×9 (the 2016 Camber came with a 2×9) and wish I had a 10 or 11 speed rear cassette and shifter since they offer more wide-range options.

Like I say, in my view it’s really a horse apiece between the two. Pick the one that comes in the color you favor most!

Well, they’re both trail bikes, so either would be fine on trails.

What kind of riding do you like? What are your local trails like?

The Giant has more travel so that’s something to consider. It also seems to have slightly better spec than the Specialized. Most notably, you’re getting a dropper post on the Trance, but not on the Camber.

Thanks for your opinions guys. now i’m more leaning towards the trance.

i’ll just research a little more before i pull the trigger 🙂

Best advice anyone can get when looking for a new bike….find one to demo first.  If you’re like most of us here you don’t just toss around 2 grand at the drop of a dime.   If you can find a bigger event like Outer bike in Crested Butte, many times the manufacturers will let you demo a bike before you decide to buy.  I highly suggest this as most people fit differently from bike to bike.  A bike that is comfortable to me, may not be anywhere close to what your body composition requires.  Also, there are a ton of factors that need thorough thought put into them before purchasing, like…

What kind of trails do you ride?  Do you ride terrain regularly?  How big of hits are you hucking this bike off of?  Is weight a factor for you?  Is weight more important than cost?  How much travel do you need/want?  how much do you weigh?

All of these answers are more personal info that you and you alone hold the answer to.  Good luck with the search.  Let us know what you end up with and what your thoughts are on the new bike!
