The Russian man in the blood of something to invent, to upgrade. Here, it seemed to reinvent the wheel a second time is no longer possible. But nothing is impossible.
Donetsk engineer Dennis Khokhlov invented the wheel all terrain. His creation called "Kalmius." The main "trick" innovations – the two-wheel drive.
      Image

The second drive wheel gives resistance to difficult areas, slippery roads and the bike is capable of driving on gravel, plowing, mud, snow and sand.

      Image

When you create a prototype rover for conventional bicycle front wheel was replaced in the back. It turned out that both wheels were leading. The frame has undergone some changes – it was cut and digested head tube and fork – cut and rolled out at an angle of 45 degrees. Another engineer had to work with the chain, after all, if you look closely, the chain on the front wheel is different from the back – she made ??a pigtail.

      Image

In the chain has a cross-play. In the usual – play a minimum, because the links are parallel. And if you put the links of the pigtail, while the total clearance increases, which provides bicycle maneuver ", – explained the engineer. During the development stage bicycle helped make the circuit of his three year old son Egor.

      Image

In addition, the front wheel attached Dennis lights, which itself originally attracted the attention of passers-by, and only then people realize that a bicycle is something wrong.

In Donetsk, the river of the same name "Kalmius" Denis tested the first prototype of the rover.

True, sat behind the wheel of the prototype bike "Kalmius," Dennis, a man of technical mindset and immediately felt the shortcomings of the reaction pedaling on the steering wheel. "I have to take into account to further improve the bike. And for more cross bike on the sand can be "shod" in a tractor tire, "- said Denis. In the future, taking into account all the shortcomings, the engineer is planning to launch an invention into mass production. According to his calculations, all-wheel bike "Kalmius" based on the urban bike hits the shops for about two thousand UAH. But patenting your bike has no plans to Dennis. He believes that patents do not work in Ukraine, and therefore sees no point in wasting their time. Denis is open to dialogue and discuss new trends bike terrain in the pristine expanses of the Internet. After the first publication of ideas and the creation of the bike started on our cycling site VELOKIEV. For those, like Dennis’re doing, you can also follow on Twitter and forums on the topic.
By the way, the engineer has already published a version of the idea of ??creating a water bike "Kalmius": extra buoyancy transport will be achieved through the thickened tires and water wings, and the idea of ??all-wheel bike, "Dnepr" with a variable angle of "attack" rudder to overcome the lingering ascents.

And at the moment the engineer brings to life a second version of all-terrain vehicle "Kalmius" based on the mountain bike for further mass production. As a result, consumers will have a bike – all-terrain vehicle, an opportunity to engage in their favorite sports activities (sports, some not even invented), and lead a healthy lifestyle all year round.

By the way, the project "Kalmius" Dennis has devoted the main river of the city and in this way once again drew attention to the environmental problems of the river.

The idea of AWD bike is interesting, but not new – I’ve seen an article about cable driven AWD bike a while ago. I can imagine how easy it would be to ride Slickrock with this bike. Public must be educated first before throwing these bike on the market, like in case with Snow-bikes, for example.
Denis111, wish you success with your project
