I have had a well taken care of Manitou Nixon Super 145 from 2006 on my bikes for a long time. I know it is ancient but, so am I. I have not had the experience to ride a lot of newer XC shocks since I am totally satisfied with the performance of mine. I am interested in the opinions of all the experienced XC riders out there as to what you think are the best XC front suspensions of all time?

One of my favorites has to be the Manitou Minute (renamed the Tower I think, and now the Markhor).

The RS-1 has to be up there too. We interviewed Max McAllister from Traxxion Dynamics suspension service a few years ago and he absolutely gushes about this fork.
