I’m looking for good unpopular bike brands (typically lower price for a better bike) that make full suspension. Unpopular as in not the big names in the game: Trek, Cannondale, etc. Any suggestions?

      bikes direct .com

Airborne and Fezzari are a couple other direct-to-buyer manufacturers.

KHS, Jamis, and many others as well…

Diamondback and GT.  They sell lots of Walmart bikes, but they do make 1/2 way decent rides also.

Isn’t a GT your main ride Greg?  I’ve checked out some of their upper end bikes, they look nice!

Yup, it is indeed, and I love it! However, I wouldn’t say that they offer a great value proposition over other brands. I’d say that their prices are on-point with the rest of the industry. Wasn’t sure what the OP was looking for: just lesser-known bikes, or more-affordable bikes that aren’t as well known. I was assuming the latter.

Commencal Bikes. GT’s are great bikes, my full suspension is an upgraded 1999 GT XCR-3000. After a long struggle of figuring out how to correctly convert it to Discs, it has worked great. Although they are not quite as innovative as they were pre-sell out (pre-2004), after a couple of years of trying to find their identity post-sell out (from 2004-2006 they made some extremely bad bikes with frame problems, etc.) they have really come back. I highly recommend their bikes from 1995-2015 (just not their bikes from 2004-2006).

I highly recommend a Diamondback, my first full suspension was the Sortie Comp. I would look at the cheaper build (xt) Mission.

I just got a Diamondback Atroz Comp in Sept 2015. Pretty good starter bike. I’ll be doing some minor upgrades next year, but, out of the box, I was able to put it on the trail with minimal setup/tuning. And, by minimal, I mean 1 hr for 2 bikes. I’m a big dude (HUGE for biking standards), and it hauls me around great! I’ll probably be adding a front cog/deraileur/shifter to get some better top end speed on straights/smooth track/dirt roads, but that’s down the road and not a major deal for me.
