Folks, I’m an intermediate level rider looking for trails to hit while I drive from Winston-Salem NC to Atlanta in April. I don’t want to drive too far off course, so prefer near I-85.
So far, Paris Mtn SC and Chicopee Ga look like contenders. Any other recs?
Also, I’m a solo rider, female, wanting to avoid desolate sketch areas. Thanks!

I’m further north in NC, but love riding at the US National Whitewater Center when I visit Charlotte. I can ride there for a whole day and not hit a trail more than once. There’s a ton of stuff to do there, though all I’ve ever done there is pedal. It also fits your requirement for not being hinky for a solo rider.

I live 5 min. from Paris Mtn., so yeah ride there 🙂
Depends how much time you have, but there’s also FATS trail system not far off I85. And Pleasant Ridge (JFA Trail) is pretty awesome too. And Payne’s Creek is flowy, good place to kill some time. And Mulberry Gap is north of Atlanta, but absolutely epic rides. Croft State Park isn’t bad, and right off 85. And, and……

Whitewater Center is a great recommendation–right on I-85, just south of Charlotte. Paynes Creek on the GA/SC border is another good option that’s not too far off the highway. Haven’t ridden Croft but I want to!

FATS is way out of the way of I-85.
Fort Yargo is in Winder, GA, and it’s only 25 minutes south of I-85. Fun, fast trails in a safe state park.

+1 for Paynes Creek. Plus its pretty much right off the interstate. Chicopee is also a must.
