Hi there guys!
I’ve got a question that I thought others might share the need to know so I’m posting it here instead of through support system or email.
There is a local trail system that has changed significantly, due to tornado, logging and some becoming walking only. I plan to submit the entire system so it can be updated in the ST database.
The issue that I’m having is that I’m unable to find a smartphone app(Android) that will allow me to export the map data to share. Strava and MMR both lock the export system behind a paywall.
I don’t own a dedicated GPS any longer so the solution would need to be for an Android phone specifically. Does anyone happen to know of an app that will allow me to export this data in a format Singletracks can use?
Thanks for your time!

I believe Endomondo allows you to export GPX data for free. But maybe not for long… I think Under Armor owns both MMR and Endomondo.

Strava. . .[locks] the export system behind a paywall.
I don’t think this is accurate. Unless something has changed recently, on Strava you have to be a paying member to export GPS data from someone ELSE’S activity. You should still be able to export your own GPS data from your own activities. To do so, navigate to the activity page on the main Strava website via your activity calendar, click the little wrench on the activity page, and click “export GPS data.”
Let me know if this doesn’t work!

Just connect Strava to your Singletracks account and data will be there automatically. At least it works with my iPhone.

I bet that’s right. I did a search and the featured blob at the top was from the Strava support page but when I click on it, text that wasn’t included does state that it’s concerning exporting routes from other users’. I’ll give it a shot and see how it works.

Great point StumpyFSR–that makes it super easy! For anyone interested in this, here’s the page with the info: https://www.singletracks.com/gps/tracker.php
But sometimes, it is nice to be able to manually export GPS data, modify it, and then upload. I do that pretty frequently.

You’re right, Greg. Sometimes it’s better to cut off that detour to brewery before uploading on Singletracks 🙂
