Hello, I’m looking for an aggressive tire to put on my XC bike to spice it up for steep, long, back country rides. I’ve eliminated the Continental Mountain King 2 because of width issues. I’m basically open to any other suggestions.
Thanks,
Cavermatthew

I always liked the Panaracer Fire XC Pro on my 26″ hardtail. Great for climbing. I am not sure if it comes wider than 2.1.

I run tubeless 2.25 Bontrager Team Issue XR3’s 26 inch tires front and back on my bike. Bought them last winter, I have really liked them. They grip well.

I’ll probably go with the Ardents to start just because of all their fans rave about them. But, once those get worn out I’ll try the Bontreger Team Issue XR3’s and the Panaracer Fire XC Pro.
Thanks for the help,

I’ve been running the Butcher/Slaughter front/rear on my Camber EVO and switched to Magic Mary/Rock Razor once those wore out. Both options have been great. My only issue with the Specialized tires was the sidewalls on the Control versions were too thin. I used the Grids and that made a huge difference.
