Hello guys i just blew a tube had to carry the bike home a new and uterly crapy experience. so i was wondering what tubes you would recommend, 26*2 is the tube size its for a specialized fsr xc expert.

Thanks appreciate the help, just bought a off the shelf tube but i am not convinced as it does not look like a good tube.

Carry an extra tube, etc.!! Yeah, genius suggestion, I know 😀 . I have two tubes, patches, levers, multi-tool, and a subpin in a wedge pack under the seat of each bike. The pump and a couple of additional items stay in the camelback. I have yet to need ’em, except for the random puncture, but as soon as I deviate from carrying that gear I’ll probably break a chain and blow out both tubes in the same mile.

Another wise thing to do is carry a extra tube or two, along with a patch kit, tire levers, and of course a small tire pump in your CamelBak or tool bag under a seat. Good luck brother!

Words of wisdom – don’t leave home without them.

Panaracer and Maxxis also make a nice DH tube that is thicker (double thickness) than the avg tube.

Hey buddy. I feel your frustration. I use to use normal off the shelf type tubes. They would not even last one ride. Then a few months ago I came across Kenda DH tubes. Oh my goodness! These are the best ever to me. I bought four of them about 4 months ago, replaced the tubes that I had in the tires with the Kendas. Guess what I haven’t had to replace one of them yet. I go riding a min. of twice a week, and over some pretty bad stuff. Stuff that I would normally try to stay away from for fear of punctures. Not anymore. The only thing that I have had to do to them is give them a little bit of air because the cooler weather changes the pressure in them where I live. I paid 12 bucks a piece, and I say its well worth it.

Also, I would like to mention that if you are not already doing so, you may want to satrt carrying an extra tube and mini-pump (small tire pump for bikes). I know that Walmart sells a couple different ones if you don’t want to pay for the high dollar ones at a LBS. Its just a suggestion, I know that even though I haven’t had a flat in a while, I still carry one just in case. It is a life saver though.
