A trail starting at the Inn At Essex in Essex Junction

So I was out exploring the wooded areas around home a couple of weeks ago, and stumbled across a gnarly singletrack/freeride trail that pretty much starts at the Inn at Essex across the field from the maintenance parking lot.

This trail was fast and sweet, probably 5 or more years ago- equipped with ladder bridges over downed trees/streambeds, banked corners, and manmade jumps. Unfortunately now there’s a couple more downed trees blocking the trail, and all the ladder bridges are really, really slick. I should know- I tried to cross them.

Does anyone know any details on this trail and why it’s not ridden anymore? I suspect the construction of 289 was about when it stopped being ridden. Who’s land is it? Can we rebuild it? It would be a fun little before or after work ride. It connects up to the Essex Public Trail, which seems to be everywhere.

A friend of mine was living in these parts for about a year and I think she was riding this trail. I will have to track her down and see what she knows about it.

or put up a post on the Vermont NEMBA Forum or try the MTBR Vermont Forum
or contact IMBA and see if they have anything going on in the area.

Actually i remember hearing from a friend who lives in essex about this, and i’m quite curious about it too, if you happen to get any info on it, i’d be most interested in reading it! thanks in advanced!

This is the Inn Trails… Classic for us growing up in the area; revered to as the “go to” trail to prove youself. Much degraded in the past decade though. Would love it to come back to life
