The 650B Rolls On….

From DirtRag’s Blog: Their 650B SantaCruz Heckler (Beckler) is finished… And it certainly looks sweet! This bike is equipped with a White Brothers 130 fork, RockShox Pearl shock, Velocity Blunt 650B wheels, Pacenti NeoMoto tires, Maverick Speedball seatpost, and a CrankBrothers Cobalt crankset. April MTB News Roundup

I’m glad to hear everyone enjoyed our April Fools post yesterday. For those who didn’t read all the way through, Apple is NOT releasing an iBike, though a product called ‘iBike’ DOES in fact exist. It’s some kind of power meter for roadie geeks so you prolly wouldn’t be interested 😉 Speaking of April Fools, …

Georgia mountain bike news

Yesterday’s IMBA Southeast Singletrack email was PACKED with news about mountain biking and I was stoked to see so much happening in Georgia in March and April. The Georgia section of the Pinhoti trail officially opened to mountain bikers (and hikers and equestrians) with a ceremony last weekend. As best I can tell the GA …

The bill would require a secondary safety mechanism and the “fork tips” on most forks don’t seem to satsify the bill’s proponents. Meanwhile …

Kona to donate 1,000 bikes to AfricaBike

Kona is doubling the number of bikes it expects to donate to healthcare workers in Africa through its ongoing 2-for-1 sales program from 500 to 1,000. Under the program Kona donates one bike for every two bikes that are purchased, though I’m guessing they aren’t giving away Stab Supremes 😉 . I couldn’t find anything …

Pearl Izumi being sold to Shimano

Shimano is ramping up their move into cycling apparel with the purchase of Pearl Izumi, the popular bike clothing and shoe company. Does this mean we’ll be seeing SPD-compatible jerseys? XTR bike shorts? We’ll see. The word is that Pearl Izumi will continue to operate as an independent company and the facilities in Broomfield, CO …
