Trail Description
About this trail
The builders and caretakers, The Valley Mountain Bike club rate this trail a 3/5. It is challenging because of the mountainside terain, with many rocks covering portions of the trail. One of the strengths of this trail network is the carefully planned route that creates beautiful flow not commonly found. Elevation gains are continuously linked with fun descents. The trail is normally ridden counter clockwise from the trailhead at the eastern end of the parking lot down towards the northeast, and then moving to the west and circling back.

Review: Great trails system with a nice 9 mile loop. Very rocky with very little flow, but some nice climbs and descents. Drove from Philly to ride here and wasn't disappointed.

Review: Anyone who is a technical rider wanting a super challenge should ride this trail system. Many would disagree but once your learn the trails, this is basically the best trail system in the Lehigh valley, if not the tri stare area.. I hail the vmb for their ongoing efforts

Review: Really Nice Trails!! As others have mentioned, definitely -not- for beginners! Very rocky in many parts, glad I had flat (and not cleated) pedals. I managed to ride the yellow, orange, red, and some of the blue, trails. Not a crazy amount of climbing. Trails are well cared for but not well marked at some junctions. I ended up riding the orange trail twice due to rogue unmarked trails (i think?). Download the PDF map @ bikevmb.com, but use it with a grain of salt especially with the yellow and orange trails. Getting here: Google "Dodson street park fountain hill pa." That will lead you to the quaint little park where you can pick up the trail-head for the Yellow trail (plenty of parking)

Similar Trail: Merli-Sarnoski maybe?

Review: ok, I've been in alot of trails in the area. (only here twice) first time I loved but had a guide. rode here 6 months later and forgot how many trails there were! right off the bat it is rock as balls, puts bear and french creek in their place. dont come here when its wet because the rocks stay wet forever making it very precarious riding. I'm anxious to come here more often and learn the trail system and the best ways it flows, no map stations.

Review: Definitely not a beginner friendly trail. Lots of climbing and basically 90% rock. Amazing to have real mountain biking stuck between two cities like it is.

Review: Overall, Sal's is an interesting and challenging system. What's good about this trail? It's a well-defined system with solid loops offering a variety of difficulty. The map is great and there are really interesting features in this system: berms, log overs, water crossings, and others. Where does this trail system fall short? First, it's a full suspension trail. While I've ridden this with a HT, it's best if you have a full suspension setup. Also, it's typically ridden in one direction versus another. Finally, there are some grueling, sustained climbs that make can be challenging. All in all, this system is solid and it will make you a better rider.

Review: First time riding at 'Sals' and it was an absolute blast. I'd consider myself a strong beginner / borderline intermediate rider and found this park to be extremely challenging. There is plenty of rocky sections to be navigated for sure and in places can be quite technical, especially when climbing. Physically demanding at times as the trail network is built into the side of the valley and so expect plenty of elevation changes and some tough climbs. I can imagine with the amount of rocks and leaves that in the wet this could be quite a tricky place to ride for anyone but the most experienced rider, but in dry or tacky conditions it's a great place to hone your skills and build fitness. Will definitely be back for another go soon!

Review: Very nice trail system, flowy trails with many technical ascends and rocky sections. It could be confusing riding it without an map.

Review: Good trail system with lots of trails. Rocky and technical at times, but still very flown and tons of fun. Being that this was my first time here plus the leave covered conditions, navigation of the trail system was not too easy, but still fun. With so many splits in the trail, it would be nice if the trails were marked better.
