Mountain Biking Tour de Wolf

***   Add a review
#55 of 203 mountain bike trails in Tennessee
#2,548 in the world

The trail starts very fast and reasonably technical. Don't fret, it does slow down. I have quite a few scars from where I ate the first section of the trail. There are a few forks in the road, but for the most part just follow the bike paths. When on the far east side the trail splits. Only go to the left if you want to be tortured by extremely the technical section. (If training for the race in Nov. I say take the technical side, whereas it is part of the race.) Go to the right if you want to take the short cut, but they both end up in the same spot. From the place where the two trails rejoin, it is a pretty much straight shot along side Walnut Grove Road. Don't worry, there is a barbed wire fence to protect you from those 65 mph cars! Seriously though, it's safe. I grew up riding this trail and I still enjoy it.

Getting there
"From the I-240 loop in Memphis, exit on Walnut Grove Rd. Go east on this road for apprx. 2 miles. After passing a hospital and high school the road will go over the wolf river and the scenery will become a little more "non-city". On the right you willpass a BMX track and a soccer complex. You will then see a stop light. Take a left and when the road splits immediately, stay right and go over a cattle grate. You'll pass some buffalo and bison on the left and a lake on the right. After the lake take a right(second right after the cattle grate). There is parking on either side of the ranger station. Once on your bike, take the blocked (to vehicles) road. After a tenth of a mile you'll see a trail head. It reads, "Tour De Wolf" and had an arrow. (that's the way to the trail)
