Trail Description
About this trail
The trail starts very fast and reasonably technical. Don't fret, it does slow down. I have quite a few scars from where I ate the first section of the trail. There are a few forks in the road, but for the most part just follow the bike paths. When on the far east side the trail splits. Only go to the left if you want to be tortured by extremely the technical section. (If training for the race in Nov. I say take the technical side, whereas it is part of the race.) Go to the right if you want to take the short cut, but they both end up in the same spot. From the place where the two trails rejoin, it is a pretty much straight shot along side Walnut Grove Road. Don't worry, there is a barbed wire fence to protect you from those 65 mph cars! Seriously though, it's safe. I grew up riding this trail and I still enjoy it.

Review: It really should be renamed Tour de Dog. So many walkers with dogs. Ride the wolf river trails instead.

Review: Love this trail a lot, I'm from Wisconsin and I come to Tennessee a few times a year to visit family, and I would definitely recommend riding this trail. It's fun, fast, and has some tough climbs that will test your endurance. It also has some interesting sections that are pretty challenging, but overall this course is great.

Review: Its a good ride but needs trail markers/signs unless you ride frequently. There are lots of big dogs off leash in leash required areas.

Review: Good urban singletrack. Shared with runners, hikers, strollers, dogs, and even equine (though no evidence of any recent horse passage could be seen). Signs of trail repair underway to make these more sustainable. Intermediate riders will enjoy these trails the most. Brand new beginners will be challenged and likely frustrated. Keep in mind the multi-use activity and adjust speed for sudden encounters. Overall ambitious project to manage such variety of users, but the park seems very well used. Worth riding if in the area.

Review: This should be called Tour de Dog. I've never dealt with so many dogs on a trail. The trail itself is fun with a little bit of everything. Some open and fast sections cutting through fields and some tight twisty single track in the woods. Nothing really difficult or too technical. The trail is not marked very well, however. I got off track a few times. There are signs marking the trail and regular miles markers but there are so many trails intersecting or joining the trail that it's hard to tell which way to go a lot of times. Then there are the hikers and their dogs. They're everywhere. The trail cuts through portions of the park where people are not required to keep their dogs on a leash. I don't mind sharing the trail but these people with their dogs running free make little to no effort to share. Also, some lady's dog bit me on the foot and then proceeded to chase me. Most dog owners out there seem to be pretty responsible but clearly some of these animals are out of their owner's control. Overall it was an interesting ride. I would give it 4 stars but the dog bite earns it 3.

Review: This is by far one of the funniest trails I have ridden. I discovered it visiting my family in Memphis, and will ride it everyday while I am there. It does have some traversing climbs and is challenging if you are not in good shape. Lots of wildlife to see in the early mornings an late afternoons.

Review: Fun trail when you're in the trees. Nothing too technical. A lot of root gardens to navigate. Poorly maintained in the open areas. Trail was just plowed through the fields with a big tracker. Overall a fun, pretty easy ride but area has the potential to be a lot better.
