Trail Description
About this trail
Well maintained trail with varing difficulties. Almost all of the trails loop out from a central point and then return. Most of the trails are not marked very well, but it doesn't matter because they all come back to the same place. You will need a $12 pass from the Jackson Guard station in Niceville because it is on gov. property and adjacent to a live bombing range:) Fiscal year pass is good from September to October of the following year.

Review: Just started mtb and this is the third trail I have been on. Well marked, nice scenery, easy to keep pace on, and a few spots with logs and such to go over. Will definitely be back.

Similar Trail: Bear Lake in milton has a similar, but easier Bike trail that is not posted on Singletracks.

Review: Fast, sandy curves over roots and pine needles. Carbo is a smooth switchback warm-up to a quick exit on Speed Demon. Stinky Creek is about as technical as the trail gets with slightly uphill washouts and root grabs. Home bound is all sand, get ready to pedal. Log jumps and root grabs are a blast! My go to trail in Destin/FWB area.

Review: Fun trails! I can't believe a place as flat as Florida has trails this good. I thought it was going to be a lot of pedaling on flat ground, but I was wrong. These trails are fast and flow very well. Speed demon is fast, Carbo is a little more technical but still pretty fast, and the race trail is VERY fast. I went there while on vacation and went back 2 days in a row. I was there on a monday and tuesday morning, and each morning I was THAT guy that cleared all the huge spiders and webs in the trails with my face. Marking is excellent on the trails as well. Never any questions if I made a wrong turn. The only headache is going all the way back up to Niceville to the Jackson guard to get a pass before going out there. Luckily they opened at 7am on monday so I was there when the doors opened.

Review: Great ride for everyone from beginner to expert. You could spend the day riding each of the different trails to your heart's content. Carbo is a good 4 mile challenge. Speed demon is great, too. Beautiful scenery.

Review: Very fun, very fast. This trail system is very flat (coming from North GA) but was a good workout as I was just peddaling it out and keeping the speed going as I pushed all of the corners on Carbo as fast as I could. Trail markings were very poor but as previous reviews said, it all loops back to the parking lot.

Review: I give this one 4 stars for a Florida trail, so if you're coming from someplace like Utah or Colorado, take that with a grain of salt. Anyway, it's a very nicely laid out trail with some good, flowy sections, and a few short, mildly technical sections. The trail can be difficult to follow sometimes, so you have to pay attention to sudden turns that blend into the rest of the environment. The signage is usually decent, but sometimes leaves you hanging, so prepare to take some wrong turns. Don't worry, though, you'll find your way back before very long. The interconnecting trails make it easy to mix things up and keep the course from getting stale. I highly recommend taking Speed Demon to the race trail for some fast, curvy fun. Then head over to the other side of the creek for some more technical climbs and descents (nothing too difficult, though). Overall, a very fun trail.

If you're into road biking, the road leading to the trailhead is a very popular spot to ride.

Sep 16, 2014: Unfortunately, there's some maintenance on and around the trails that's having some significant impact. The bridge leading to the northwest section of trails is out, but a new bridge seems to be well underway. They've also been cutting down a bunch of trees around the power lines which has blocked access to the western trails from the east trail head. Hopefully it will all be cleared up before too much longer.

Review: Rode carbo and I thought it was pretty good. Definitely a fun ride. Not alot of ups and downs but plenty of flow. Never felt lost and got a good workout despite the near neutral vertical. Sand wasn't an issue but I rode in December if that changes anything. Got out just before sunset but crossed paths with another fella on his way in for a night ride. Carbo would be the heat with a headlight! Tommy Likey.

Review: Had a blast! Did Carbo this evening. Good trail. Really enjoyed the peacefulness of the ride. Fun work out...not too much on the nature side, but, good variation in levels. I will definitely be hitting this area more.
