Mountain Biking Te Ara Koa

*****   Add a review
#77 of 387 mountain bike trails in New Zealand
#6,336 in the world

A 700m climb rewarded by a 5Km descent down a very fun, moderately technical, hand built, rocky & rooty track through native bush. The top section has some rooty challenges but nothing too extreme. It gets faster and flowier in the middle section. After you cross the Dun Mountain trail it gets a bit more challenging again on the final section (a.k.a. Tracky McTrackface) where it gets narrower and steeper with a few root drops.

Getting there
Start at Codgers track and climb up to the Tantragee saddle. Continue up Fringed Hill road to the top. Near the top go left at the junction, following the signs to Black Diamond Ridge. (To the right is Fringed downhill track and you can also jump on to Tea Ara Koa right at the junction, skipping the top bit). The actual start of Te Ara Koa is at the same starting point as Black Diamond.
