From Taylor Rd the trail starts on a very long steep climb with tight switchbacks. Follow the blue markers and you will end up on Krause Rd. This is roughly 5 miles. Its worth it to continue past Krause and ride the Skyline trail up to Brubaker Rd and back. The trail has some fast descents, scenic overlooks and some steep bench cut single track.

From Petoskey, head south on 131. Turn left onto Bear River Rd heading East. Bear River Rd will Turn into Maxwell Rd. Taylor Rd is about 9 miles down Bear River and is a seasonal track. Head down Taylor Rd a short ways and you will see the NCT marker.
