Trail Description
About this trail
The woods provide some of the best mountain biking in South-East England, with many off-road 'single-track' trails available as well as plenty of fire roads. Mountain biking is permitted with a permit, but walking is free. Swinley Woods was originally submitted as the proposed venue for the mountain biking event of the 2012 Summer Olympics, however, the distance from the main Olympic Park was considered too great and the heavy forestation along most of the suggested routes would have resulted in poor camera access and views. Review: Great place to ride. Lots for all abilities, from green trails for beginners, blue trails for beginner/intermediates, red trails for intermediates/advanced and black trails for advanced. Gets very busy at weekends though, best time to go is weekday evenings in the summer.

Review: Quick after work ride on the blue trail. Clever trail as its easy for beginners but if you're a bit faster it's enjoyable with the berms and gentle climbs.

Review: I love Swinley, but just don't get there enough.
Various trails to suit all levels, great for training, some techincal harder core areas jumps etc. Dog walkers and runners also make use of the trails. Has good parking, family playgrounds and cafe available. Maps available and good signs pointing you to the start of your trail.

Review: Purpose built trail sections handle rain way better than anywhere else in the area (but connecting fire roads can be mud bogs). Trails are easy (red is only slightly harder than the blue). They do a great job with the limited vertical they have but it is very limited.
(addition: the 'all weather' surface mixed with a little rain grinds components - take an old single speed/1x hardtail in Winter!)

Review: Great day out which is a quick train ride from London. Plenty of trails to choose from the and the trails center is very helpful. Lots of bikers out, but the trails are well maintained so no issues.
